What is ETA?

An Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) provides authorization for non-Australian citizens to travel to and enter Australia and is electronically linked to your passport. It is for short-term stays for either tourism or business visitor activities.

What do I need to make an application?

To make an application for an ETA through this website you need your valid passport, email address and a credit card.

How do I apply for an ETA online?

You can apply for an ETA by clicking on this link APPLY HERE . You must be outside Australia and intend to visit for tourism or business visitor activities.

If you do not hold a passport from any of the eligible countries, you cannot apply for an ETA online. You might be eligible to apply for other types of online visitor visas directly with an Australian Visa office.

It is important that the details provided for your ETA application are the same as they appear in your passport.

How long can I stay In Australia?

The ETA will allow you to stay in Australia for a maximum of three months for each visit. If you are planning a holiday for more than three months in Australia you will need to apply for one of the visas that allow for a longer stay in Australia.

Do age restrictions apply?

No age restriction apply. Eligible passport holders of all ages can apply for an ETA.

Can I include my children in the same online ETA application?

No. All family members must make separate ETA applications. Even if your children travel on your passport, they will need an individual ETA application.

How long will my ETA take to process?

Visas are typically processed and approved with confirmations issued within a few hours. Depending on the time your passport information and application are submitted, it can take up to, but not exceeding, 2 business day(s).

What can I do if I make a mistake in my application?

It is important that you enter and check very carefully your personal details.

Note: If your ETA details do not match your passport details you might experience delays when boarding your aircraft or be refused the entry into Australia.

What happens when applications are not approved?

If your application is not approved you should contact your nearest Australian visa office.

Why do I need to indicate that I have a Criminal Conviction?

If you have a criminal conviction and have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 12 months or more, you should not be applying for an ETA. You might be eligible to apply for other types of online visitor visas.

If you are found to be in breach of any condition, your visa can be cancelled in immigration clearance and you will not be able to enter Australia.

I am an Australian citizen with citizenship to other countries as well. Do I need an ETA to visit Australia?

Australian citizens have an automatic right of entry and do not need a visa or an ETA to enter Australia.

I did not receive my ETA documents

Check your "Spam", "Bulk Mail" or "Junk email" folder . If you find our email there, select the confirmation message and click "This is Not Spam". This will help your future messages (for example ETA documents) to get through.
